- I love this image. It's a classic. Isn't if funny how something that simple has represented so many things?

I gladly gave up film after spending way too many sunny summer days in a dark, smelly darkroom making B&W & color prints. 11 chemicals and 58 minutes for a test strip was later simplified, but still a tedius chore.
The process however taught me photography on a level that newer users can't possibly match now. I REALLY appreciate digital photography and printing.

I agree with Earl. Although my hands and lungs didn't benefit from the years of working with chemicals, there's nothing like watching those images appear on the printing paper under the dim yellow lights.
I still haven't seen an inkjet printer-generated black and white print, that will match the rich details and texture of Ilford Gallery paper - my all-time favorite.
If I didn't have a septic system, I would have a dark room still to dabble in.
The good ole' days!
